Dog owners who would like to learn more about dog behavior can do so while helping to support The Ark Animal Shelter in Cherryfield.

The Ark is sponsoring DOGSENSE, an Ark fundraising event to be held 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in the Machias Savings Bank Community Room in Brewer.

Don Hanson and Kate Dutra of Green Acres Kennel Shop and The Woof Meow Show will be presenting their seminar Understanding Dog Behavior, Communication, and Learning. It will include many facts and myths about canine behavior and will cover how dogs communicate so participants will have a better understanding of what their dogs are trying to tell them. How dogs learn and the most effective ways to teach them will also be addressed.

After the seminar, participants are invited to a light lunch and a screening of the documentary, “Pet Fooled.” After lunch, Hanson and Dutra will be available for questions.

The $50 ticket cost benefits the Ark. Register online at http://www.thearkpets.org or call 207-546-3484 for more information.

The Ark also runs a thrift shop in Blue Hill.
